The march was written whilst the composer was a Student Bandmaster at the Royal Miitary School of Music at Kneller Hall from 1986-88. All students at Kneller Hall are expected to submit a quick march, and 'Class of '88' won the prestigious Commandant's first prize for the best quick march of the Ralph Vaughan Williams class, of which there were thirteen members. "Class of '88" starts in 6/8 then changes to 2/4 at the trio. Clarinets and euphonium are featured in the trio. A great melodic work that your group will enjoy many times over. |
